The Salvation Army’s 2025 Christmas Campaign began in Braamfontein on Saturday, 7 December 2025, where we partnered once again with Street Shop. Each year they join us in this area to assist with the provision and distribution of clothing, and their support continues to be a valued part of this outreach. Soup for the day was provided by Ethembeni Children’s Home and was served with the help of the Territorial Mission Team, ensuring that many could enjoy a warm and comforting meal. In total, two hundred and thirty five people were assisted. Throughout the day, officers and volunteers engaged in gentle conversations with those who were open to speaking, and we took the opportunities the Lord provided to pray with individuals who sought encouragement.

The launch continued on Sunday in the Esibhoweni Community in the Eastern KwaZulu Natal Division, where food and food parcels were given to families needing a helping hand. For many, these parcels offered some relief and the reassurance that they are not forgotten during a season that can feel especially heavy for those facing hardship. The Chief Secretary, Lieut Colonel Themba Mahlobo and the TSWM, Lieut Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo were hands on with the distribution of food – all given in the Name of Jesus.

The purpose of the Christmas Campaign is to raise awareness and support for those in need at this time of year. While Christmas is a time when families gather and celebrate the birth of Jesus, for many struggling financially it can be an especially trying season. The Salvation Army seeks to ease this by reaching out to those in desperate situations, offering practical help and the hope of Jesus’ love.
Across the Territory the need is far greater than the resources we have, yet we remain committed to using what is in our hands to do what we can in the Name and love of Jesus.
