Sunday School Outreach Sunday
Children are a precious gift from God, and reaching them with the love of Jesus is a responsibility that The Salvation Army takes seriously. The first Sunday School Outreach Sunday scheduled for this week is a special opportunity for our Corps to intentionally reach new children in our communities, welcoming them into a place where they can learn about Jesus, grow in faith, and experience His love. When we reach a child, we often reach a whole family, opening the door for transformation that can impact generations. The earlier we introduce a child to Jesus, the sooner Godly foundations can be laid, shaping their hearts and minds for a lifetime of walking with Him.
As we step into this crucial ministry, let us unite in prayer, asking God to bless our efforts, prepare the hearts of children and their families, and use this outreach for His glory.
Pray for Corps to Be Faithful and Intentional in Reaching New Children
“Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” – Luke 14:23 (NIV)
Pray that every Corps will step out boldly into their communities, actively seeking new children with love and creativity. Ask God to give leaders and volunteers fresh ideas and enthusiasm as they reach out in ways that are engaging and relevant. Pray that no opportunity to share Jesus with a child will be missed and that this outreach will be a catalyst for ongoing connections with families.
Pray for the Children Who Will Attend
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
Pray that God would draw children to this outreach event, stirring their curiosity and opening their hearts to the message of Jesus. Ask for protection over their journey to and from the Corps and that they will feel safe, loved, and welcomed. Pray that each child will encounter the presence of God in a way that is meaningful and life-changing.
Pray for the Leaders, Teachers, and Volunteers
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
Pray for wisdom, patience, and passion for all those serving in children’s ministry. Ask God to equip them with the right words and actions to communicate the gospel effectively. Pray that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit, showing the love of Christ in all they do, and that their efforts will bear lasting fruit in the lives of the children.
Pray for Families to Be Reached Through This Outreach
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” – Acts 16:31 (NIV)
Pray that as children experience the love of Jesus, their families will also be drawn to Him. Ask God to open doors for deeper relationships with parents and guardians, allowing the church to be a source of hope and support. Pray that whole households will come to know Christ as a result of this outreach, leading to generational faithfulness and transformation.
May this Sunday School Outreach be more than an event—it is mission, an opportunity to plant seeds of faith that will grow and flourish for eternity. Let’s commit it all to God in prayer!
