I read this quote and wanted to share it with you…

“When in doubt, be still. The compass of your soul will tell you which way to go.”

World politics, local elections, bombarding social media, pain and hurt in so many communities and families, flooding and gang violence… all of this has opened questions, and even doubts, about what the future holds.

I recently asked some cadets and officers attending their five-year review, “What do you preach this Sunday?” What do you preach to “fan into flame” the good news? There is a God, Almighty, All-Powerful, Creator of the Universe, Good Shepherd, Carer and Guide, who LOVES you. He is aware of what is happening. He mourns the evil actions of so much of humanity and, in the midst of such trouble, says to you and me, “Good morning. I have prepared a table for you, overflowing with what you need today. Come and sit awhile with Me.”

I sit at the table every morning with my Father. I can (try to) be still, reflect on a portion of His story, and have a chat. In those moments, my Father resets the compass, points me in the right direction, and even offers to walk with me as I follow His directions.

There may be changes, surprises, and even hurt in world and local situations, but the sun will rise in the morning. A new day will dawn with opportunity because there is life.

How is the compass of your soul today? What is it set to?

I pray it will be set to True North. I pray it will be set to hope and possibility because your soul, the foundation of your today, is established and grounded by a loving Father. He is a good, good God who walks with you, talks with you, and wraps you in His loving arms and says, “I’ve got this. Come, follow Me and see what I have prepared for you.”

As you read this, as you may be considering your vote, you may be anxious about today and next week. There may not be enough money to fill the petrol tank. Food may be a little scarce. Nights may feel dark and sometimes scary. I pray you will listen for the voice of our Good Shepherd and sit or walk with Him into a new day.

He loves you!
