“When we know better, we do better.” This guiding principle characterized the Finance Local Officers’ Training held in the Eastern KwaZulu-Natal Division. Under the leadership of Divisional Leaders, Captains Edouard and Lynn Zola—DC and DDWM respectively—the finance local officers gathered for a day of training. The event took place at Thusong Training Center, located at the Umfolozi Municipality Office in Kwambonambi, centrally positioned within the Division. The Secretary for Business Administration, Captain Mteteleli Memani, was the guest speaker, accompanied by Captain Nonkosazana Memani, Administrator of Ethembeni Children’s Home.

Captain Memani took the local officers through a refresher on key financial regulations outlined in the Orders & Regulations for local officers. He also emphasized the importance of regular and accurate reporting to DHQ. Additionally, the need for Corps to build financial reserves was highlighted, ensuring they are prepared for unforeseen situations. This, in turn, enables DHQ to respond effectively and support Corps when needed. Local officers were reminded of the importance of Corps contributions to Divisional Headquarters. This, along with other key financial principles, was discussed in detail during the training.

The event was well attended, with 58 local officers—including Corps Sergeant Majors, Corps Secretaries, Corps Treasurers, Home League Secretaries, and Home League Treasurers—accompanied by their Officers and Envoys. The sentiment among attendees was unanimous: Now that we know better, we shall do better. And surely, God will be pleased with that—to His glory.
