There’s something deeply beautiful about choosing to go without so someone else can receive what they truly need. It’s not always comfortable. It’s not always convenient. But that’s the point, isn’t? Self Denial invites us to pause our usual habits and consider what we can give up so that hope can be revealed in someone else’s story.

This week, across our Territory, we begin the Self Denial journey under the theme Hope Revealed. From now until 31 August 2025, we’re stepping into a season of intentional giving—a chance to make choices that reach far beyond ourselves.

Maybe it’s a takeaway meal. A cooldrink or chocolate we usually buy without thinking. Data we’d normally spend on streaming or scrolling. For some, it might be giving up a meal out, a new item of clothing, or that extra treat. For others, it may mean letting go of something small but meaningful—airtime, a packet of snacks, or even walking instead of taking a taxi. These decisions may seem ordinary, but when placed in God’s hands, they become something extraordinary. Through these offerings, children are educated, healthcare is extended, local ministries are supported, and the love of Jesus is shared in practical ways.

Each choice to deny ourselves opens the door for hope to enter someone else’s life. One act of surrender. One sacrifice made in love. One step closer to revealing the kind of hope that never fails. Let’s give cheerfully, generously, willingly … all in His Name!
