The first few weeks of the Mission Team journey has been a season of discovery, growth, and deep spiritual formation. As the team gathered at the beginning of the year, there was a shared sense of anticipation about what God would do through this group of young people who have responded to His call.

The early weeks have focused on orientating the team to the structure, character development, discipleship, and preparing hearts and minds for the year of ministry ahead. Each day begins with quiet time and devotions, grounding the team in prayer and Scripture before the activities of the day unfold.

From the outset, the team has been intentionally shaped as a community. Although many members arrived from different backgrounds, they have connected well and have been intentional about growing together. Orientation sessions, team-building activities, and “getting to know you” moments have helped members learn one another’s stories and build relationships rooted in trust and faith.

The schedule so far has included training in practical ministry skills such as preparing devotions, learning how to share personal testimonies, and developing creative arts expressions for ministry. These moments are more than just training—they are opportunities for each member to discover their gifts and grow in confidence as servants of God.

A significant part of the team’s experience has been learning how to communicate their faith story. Through workshops such as “Telling Your Story” with the Heartlines team, members have reflected deeply on how God has been at work in their own lives. Sharing these stories within the team has created a powerful sense of unity, reminding everyone that God calls ordinary people and uses their personal journeys to reach others.

Alongside spiritual formation, the team has been introduced to key ministry areas that will shape their work throughout the year. Sessions on youth and children’s ministry, child protection, evangelism, and cultural intelligence have provided practical tools for engaging communities with sensitivity and compassion. The team has also begun preparing for outreach opportunities such as youth visits, corps visits, and community ministry engagements. These experiences have already given the team a glimpse of the impact they can have when they serve together.

Beyond the structured training, God’s presence has been evident in the small moments of daily life together. Team times, discipleship discussions, and evening reflections have created spaces where members encourage one another, pray together, and process what God is teaching them. For many, the greatest lesson so far has been discovering the beauty of Christian community—learning to support one another, grow together, and seek God collectively.

One of the most encouraging aspects has been witnessing how God is shaping the team’s hearts. As they spend time in worship, prayer, and service, a deeper sense of calling is emerging. Members are discovering new gifts, stepping out of their comfort zones, and beginning to see how their unique talents can be used for God’s mission.

While this is only the beginning of the Mission Team journey, the foundation that has been laid in these first weeks is strong. Through training, fellowship, and spiritual formation, the team is being prepared not only to serve communities but also to grow as disciples of Christ.

As the year unfolds, the prayer of the Mission Team is simple: that God would continue to guide their steps, shape their hearts, and use them to bring hope and transformation wherever they are sent.
