Y-Connexion is more than an annual gathering of young people in the Division; it is a time of revival, fellowship, and spiritual enrichment in God’s presence. Y-Connexion 2026 was no different, as the hand of God was evident from the preparations through to the Sunday Celebration Meeting. Under the theme “SEE”, taken from 2 Kings 6:16-17, young people were challenged to look beyond what is visible and recognise God’s presence and power.
Lieutenants B. and S. Nkambule led the weekend, supported by the Divisional Leaders, Officers, and members of the Divisional Youth Board. The weekend commenced on Friday with a vibrant and glorious time of praise and worship, setting the tone for the days ahead.
Major P. Buthelezi (DDWM) opened the weekend with greetings and challenged the young people to walk and live in the light of God. Lieutenant B. Nkambule followed by sharing the expectations for the weekend and introducing the theme, emphasising that to truly SEE requires authenticity and a willingness to learn. Khambi Corps Youth presented a ministry based on the theme, and Lieutenant S. Nkambule concluded the opening session with an epilogue, stressing that in order to SEE, we must leave the crowd and follow Jesus, as illustrated in Luke 18:35-43.
On Saturday morning, Lieutenant G. Hlatshwayo opened the day with a devotion. The first session was an interactive discussion titled “Discipleship and Faith Development”. During this session, participants explored what it truly means to be a disciple and how our faith should continue to grow and develop, shaping both our lives and the society around us. Discussions focused on the connection between faith, social media, the Church, and relationships.
The next session was the much-anticipated Bible study, where the Siyakhula material was used, focusing on the analogy of ploughing, sowing, watering, and harvesting. It was encouraging to see young people engaging deeply with Scripture and being intentional about spending time in God’s Word.
The programme continued with a hike down the valley for a prayer walk. This was a beautiful and blessed time of seeking God, reflecting on prayer, and symbolically planting seeds through intercession. Major G. Sebothoma shared about the different types of prayer, encouraging participants to deepen their prayer lives. The evening concluded with Shayatafula and the festival, providing a joyful time of fellowship and celebration.
On Sunday morning, everyone gathered with expectant hearts for the Celebration Meeting. Once again, the presence of God was felt throughout the service, from the call to worship through to the benediction. During the meeting, Lieutenant B. Nkambule launched the Youth Book Challenge for 2027, and a beautiful timbrel ministry was presented by Gwegwede Circuit.
Lieutenant B. Nkambule shared the Bible message from 1 Kings 3:16-28, encouraging young people to be present and attentive so that they can see, value, and protect the blessings and gifts God has entrusted to them. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully as many young people responded by coming to the mercy seat to pray and seek the face of God.
God was at work throughout the weekend. A seed was planted in the lives of all who attended, and now we are called to nurture that seed so that it may grow into a fruitful harvest for the glory of God.
