The Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory will gather at Pietermaritzburg City Hall on 12 and 13 December 2026 for the Ordination and Commissioning of the Keepers of the Covenant Session. Family members, friends, fellow Salvationists and supporters will join together for this significant occasion as Cadets complete their training and step into their ministry as Salvation Army officers. The weekend will celebrate God’s faithfulness throughout their journey of preparation and their willingness to serve wherever He leads.
Ordination and commissioning are important occasions in the life of The Salvation Army. Through ordination, the Church recognises and affirms God’s call upon the lives of those who have been prepared for the ministry of officership. Commissioning is the public sending out of new officers to serve Christ and participate in the Army’s mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Together, these acts acknowledge both God’s calling and the officer’s commitment to a life of ministry and service.
The Keepers of the Covenant Session will enter this new chapter with faith and dedication, ready to use their gifts, abilities and training in the service of God and others. The Territory is invited to uphold them in prayer as they prepare for this important step and begin their ministry as officers of The Salvation Army.
