The Central Division’s East Rand Sectional Men’s Fellowship was held at Daveyton Corps under the theme, “Legacy Builders: A Life That Outlasts You.” The day brought together men from across the section for worship, fellowship, Bible teaching, outreach and spiritual reflection. Participants were encouraged to consider the influence of their lives on their families, communities and future generations.
A total of 76 men attended the fellowship, including 24 young men and 52 senior men. The presence of both younger and older men created opportunities for encouragement, mentoring and the sharing of life experiences.
Building a Legacy Through Obedience
The first session was led by Major Brendan Browski, who spoke about several kings in the Bible whose disobedience to God brought consequences for themselves and those they led. Using examples from Scripture, Major Browski challenged the men to reflect on the choices they make each day and the influence those choices have on others. He reminded participants that leadership carries responsibility and that every decision contributes to the legacy a person leaves behind. The men were encouraged to invest in a legacy based on obedience to God, integrity, faithfulness and a life that honours Christ.
Addressing Men’s Health and Wellbeing
The second session featured guest speaker Mr K. Ntombela, who addressed the topics of men’s health and mental wellbeing. His presentation encouraged participants to take care of their physical and emotional health and to recognise the value of seeking support during difficult times. The discussion highlighted the many responsibilities carried by men within their families, churches and communities and encouraged openness in addressing personal challenges. The practical nature of the session provided useful guidance and fostered conversations about supporting one another in everyday life.
Taking the Gospel into the Community
Following lunch, the men participated in an open air service alongside members of the local community. The outreach provided an opportunity to share the Gospel beyond the walls of the Corps building. The Bible message was delivered by Envoy Moletsane, who preached from Luke 19:1–10 and reflected on the story of Zacchaeus. He reminded listeners that Jesus came to seek and save the lost and that He continues to welcome those who recognise their need of Him.
Drawing from Zacchaeus’ encounter with Jesus, Envoy Moletsane encouraged those gathered to respond to Christ and allow Him to bring transformation and new direction to their lives. The message reinforced the fellowship theme by connecting personal faith with Christian witness and service within the community. During the prayer ministry that followed, nine children and eleven adults were prayed with, bringing the total number of people prayed with to twenty.
The East Rand Sectional Men’s Fellowship provided opportunities for fellowship, learning, spiritual growth and evangelism. Through Bible teaching, practical discussions and community outreach, participants were encouraged to consider the influence of their lives and the legacy they are building.
As the men returned to their Corps, homes and communities, they carried with them a renewed challenge to live faithfully, serve others and point people towards Jesus Christ.
