The Southern Africa Territory was privileged to welcome Commissioners Keith and Yvonne Conrad, International Secretaries for Africa, on a recent support visit.
The Commissioners, originally from this Territory, began their visit in Cape Town where they spent time at several Salvation Army ministry units and visited with officers, including retired officers. Their journey then took them to Johannesburg for a series of consultations with the Territorial Leaders and Sectional Heads. These meetings provided valuable opportunities to engage in discussions on the wellbeing and growth of the Territory, with the goal of strengthening ministry across Southern Africa.
While in Johannesburg, Commissioner Yvonne Conrad took the opportunity to briefly visit a Gender Based Violence training session in the Central Division. She addressed the delegates and encouraged them to continue the battle against GBV, affirming the importance of their work in protecting and uplifting the most vulnerable in society.

On Thursday morning, the Commissioners led the THQ Family Prayers, encouraging officers and employees in this time of worship. They also helped deepen the understanding of the ministry of The Salvation Army across the Africa Zone, encouraging those present to see their daily work as part of a much larger mission. During this time, the Territorial Commander, Commissioner Torben Eliasen, also prayed for Commissioners Conrad as they prepare to return to IHQ, entrusting them and their ministry to God’s care and guidance.
The visit of Commissioners Conrad was both encouraging and affirming, and the Territory gives thanks to God for the areas of growth and strength that are evident throughout Southern Africa, while also engaging in important conversations about the way forward.
