For Cadet Nomonde Asmeen Ngomane of Emangweni Corps in the Mpumalanga & eSwatini Division, answering God’s call has been a journey of patience, confirmation and learning to trust His plans above her own. Although she sensed God calling her from a young age, it took time for her to fully understand what He was asking of her. Through Scripture, the confirmation of others and her experiences at the College for Officer Training and during out-training, her calling has become increasingly clear. Today, she can confidently say that she is certain of God’s call upon her life and is ready to serve Him for the rest of her life.
I grew up in a family where Christian values were taught and shared, and this shaped my faith and understanding of God from a young age. My journey of faith and calling has been one of patience, confirmation, and learning to trust God’s plans above my own. I received my calling from God at the age of 14. At that stage of my life, I did not pay much attention to it because, like any other young person, I had dreams of studying and pursuing a career. Although I knew God was speaking, I felt there was still time before responding to His call. At the age of 20, I gave my life to Christ and accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour.
As I grew older, God continued to pursue my heart. At the age of 21, His voice became impossible for me to ignore. Through Scripture and through His people, God repeatedly confirmed that He was calling me into His ministry. During that season, I prayed and made a promise to God that I would serve Him in full-time ministry.
One of the Scriptures that deeply shaped my response was Numbers 30:2: “When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.” This reminded me of the importance of honouring the commitments made before God. From that moment, I became determined to remain faithful to what He had asked of me.
My time at CFOT has stretched me in many ways and prepared me for ministry. It has helped me to understand the reality and responsibility of being called by God. Living and learning in an environment surrounded by supportive people has strengthened my faith and encouraged me to become more certain about my calling. Through training, I have grown spiritually and personally, and I have learned to depend more fully on God while developing the character needed for ministry.
My out-training experience has also been a season of growth. At first, it was difficult because I questioned how I would manage doing ministry full-time and carrying responsibilities on my own. There were moments of uncertainty and challenges, especially when balancing ministry work and assignments at the same time. Yet, throughout it all, the Lord has remained faithful. Since arriving at my appointment, I have seen growth in myself and in many areas of ministry. What once seemed difficult has become possible through God’s strength and guidance. Ministry is not always easy, but it is doable when God is at the centre.
Today, I can confidently say that I am certain of my calling and willing to serve God for the rest of my life. I look forward to continuing to see Him use me for His purpose and glory.
