From 9-11 October 2026, the Central Division held its annual Junior Soldiers Rally at Altelekker Campsite under the theme, See. Bringing together more than 290 delegates, including Junior Soldiers, officers and local leaders, the vibrant three-day gathering blended spiritual reflection, sports, creative workshops and fellowship, equipping young people to see as God sees and to act boldly in their faith.
Friday, 9 October: “I Am Seen”
The rally officially commenced on Friday afternoon as delegates arrived at the campsite where they were warmly welcomed and registered by the Divisional Youth Board. Following a fellowship supper, the main hall programme began under the sub-theme, I Am Seen, led by Captain D. Fakude and Makanaka Kasenze.
The atmosphere quickly came alive with exciting icebreaker games, photo booth activities and welcoming addresses from Divisional Leaders Majors Brendan and Leanne Browski. The Territorial Youth Department introduced the weekend’s theme song, No Longer Bound, which set an energetic and uplifting tone for the gathering.
The evening’s spiritual message, presented by Territorial Youth Secretary Captain D. Dathini, was based on 2 Kings 6:17-20, the account of Elisha and his servant. The devotional reminded the children that even in moments of doubt and fear, God opens our eyes to recognise His presence, power and protection. Every young person was encouraged by the assurance that they are fully seen, known and valued by God.

Saturday, 10 October: “I Can Make a Difference” and “I Can See and Act”
Saturday began with room-based devotions and personal quiet time, giving delegates dedicated space for prayer and reflection before breakfast.
Morning Worship and Creative Workshops
Germiston Corps Junior Soldiers led a dynamic praise and worship session, followed by prayer and energising activities. Rooted in Mark 2:1-12, with Mark 2:5 as the memory verse, the message challenged Junior Soldiers to look beyond themselves, recognise the needs around them and put their faith into action through compassion, teamwork and service.
Following an ice-cream break, delegates divided into Junior Miss and Junior Boys sessions, which focused on practical skills and creativity. The Junior Miss group created colourful wool bracelets while reflecting on how God has given each person unique gifts and talents that can be developed and used to bless others. The Junior Boys participated in a resourcefulness challenge, constructing functional water dispensers using cardboard and empty plastic bottles. The activity highlighted creativity, discipline, teamwork and practical problem-solving skills.
Afternoon Sports and Evening Praise Festival
After lunch, the children was a time of Shayatafula before heading to the sports field for an afternoon of recreation and friendly competition. Boys and girls participated in soccer, volleyball and team-building games designed to foster sportsmanship, trust and cooperation. Saturday evening featured the annual Praise Festival, where Junior Soldiers showcased their God-given talents through creative dance items, vocal performances and timbrel presentations. The evening was a celebration of worship, creativity and youthful enthusiasm.

Sunday, 11 October: “I Can See and Act”
The final day focused on living out the lessons learned throughout the weekend. Soweto Central Junior Soldiers led the congregation in a time of praise and worship, followed by a presentation of the theme song, No Longer Bound. Khaya from the Territorial Youth Department then led a reflection session, revisiting the weekend’s key teachings and encouraging delegates to apply them in their daily lives.
During the awards ceremony, participants were recognised for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The East Rand Section secured first place in the soccer tournament, followed by the City and West Section in second place and the North East Section in third place after spirited competition throughout the weekend.
To bring the rally to a close, Captain Mpumelelo Dathini delivered a final challenge based on 2 Timothy 1:6: “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God …” Junior Soldiers were encouraged to keep their faith active and growing as they returned to their homes, Corps, schools and communities.
The 2026 Central Division Junior Soldiers Rally was a resounding success, bringing together fun, adventure, worship and spiritual growth. Delegates returned home with new friendships, valuable experiences and a renewed understanding that they are seen by God and called to make a difference in the world around them.
