Load shedding is the rotative limitation of electric power supply by its provider due to its incapacity to deliver energy to all. This measure is usually taken when the demand for energy exceeds the existing installed supply capacity. It is the programmed or random power cuts forcing everyone to be temporary or permanently in the dark.
Load shedding brings disorder to all. People and businesses have to look for alternative energy possibilities, acquiring generators, invertors, batteries or even simple candles. Needless to say that this situation becomes more expensive and somewhat inefficient. Therefore people become poorer and businesses become less competitive, besides tripping all over the place because of the darkness.
There is a kind of load shedding however, that can be even worse! It is when Christians loose their capacity to be light of the world! The world is in desperate need of light, but load shedding Christians shining like fireflies or glowworms (lightning bugs), on and off, don´t provide enough light for the unbelievers to find salvation.
The Christian light mustn´t only be lit with our church friends on Sunday, but mainly during Monday through Saturday daily living, with our family relatives, our work colleagues, our schools buddies, and even with our public transportation peers.
We cannot complain of the spiritual darkness around us, if we Christians disconnect ourselves from the omnipotent, everlasting, inexhaustible source of light and life which is God, and who is the only source capable of keeping us radiant! Connected to Him, we will be able to constantly shine in all and every situation. No one can cut off this connection but us, so lets plug ourselves to Go and bring light to our tribes and communities!
