After two days of joyful celebrations and many blessings, the final day of Congress unfolded with a deep desire to hear from God and a yearning for the moving of the Holy Spirit. Salvationists from across the Territory joined in a joyful march of witness through the community, displaying Divisional banners and unfurled flags. The General, along with the World President of Women’s Ministries (WPWM) and Territorial Leaders, stood to take the salute, bearing witness to the unwavering commitment of the Salvation Army to point people to Jesus.

There’s more on the other side of saying ‘yes’ to God than you can imagine!

In the closing meeting of the Congress weekend, the atmosphere was one of surrender, recommitment and renewal.  Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham advocated for Salvationists to step beyond their comfort zones into the realm of obedience and faith. Drawing from Isaiah 41, the congregation received encouragement not to be afraid but to entrust their lives to the One who has repeatedly shown His faithfulness. The WPWM echoed this sentiment, urging everyone to extend their hand in trust to God, emphasizing that it is in this place of surrender that they will encounter God’s transformative work. Commissioner Buckingham concluded by emphasizing, “There’s more on the other side of saying ‘yes’ to God than you can imagine!”

A Divine calling needs Divine empowerment, and this comes on the other side of surrender.

General Lyndon Buckingham, with his characteristic passion and conviction, shared from Acts 1:1-8 encouraging Salvationists to follow the disciples’ example by patiently waiting for the Holy Spirit. Highlighting that as God’s emissaries in the world, the power of the Holy Spirit is indispensable, he underscored that the tasks ahead cannot be accomplished through human strength alone. The General emphasised, “A Divine calling needs Divine empowerment, and this comes on the other side of surrender.” A sacred opportunity was offered for all to heed God’s call to holy living and being a redemptive force for good in the world. The mercy seat was crowned with glory as a powerful response to the moving of the Holy Spirit swept through the tent.

As the final day of the Congress came to a close, it was clear that the event had not just been a gathering of Salvationists but a profound time of spiritual renewal and deepened commitment to being who God wants His people to be and to doing what God wants His people to do. Salvationists left with their faith reignited, hearts devoted, dedication reaffirmed, and the resounding declaration of “Heavenly Father, count me in!” etched in their hearts and spoken from their lips.
