Alleluia!

We greet you all in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

This time of the year, as we approach Easter, we can notice new items in the shelves of supermarkets and grocery stores.  There are the chocolate bunnies and eggs staked up everywhere in the stores to induce the consumers to buy them.

Although the chocolate sales are not from the Christian tradition, what the bunnies and eggs represent are.  Bunnies have a high reproductive rate compared to other livestock, and eggs carry within the possibility of a nascent life. Both point us to the hope of vibrant life, and that indeed is central to the Christian belief.

So while the excess of chocolate consumption may be very harmful to our health, the reminder of resounding life is extremely healthy for our soul! Hence the Christian belief doesn’t rely on the consumption of foods or goods but on the profound trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which enables fullness of life.

This extraordinary life that is found in Jesus is available to all of us, if we would only accept His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf.  When we understand and accept that Jesus died on the cross paying for the sins that we would have to pay, we are freed from the hold and guilt of sin and released to enjoy a new life.

As we embrace this new life, we come also to realise that the same power that brought Jesus back to life in His resurrection is available to us, to empower us to live a sinless life, in other words a healthy life that brings joy and satisfaction both personally and communally!

Perhaps you might miss out on the chocolate, but don’t miss out on the fullness of life available to you in Jesus Christ!

So, much more than bunnies and eggs, have a happy Easter, enjoying this extraordinary life that is there for you in Christ!

Happy Easter!
