This week, from Wednesday through to Sunday 25th August 2024, the Territorial Candidates Assessment took place, bringing together eight young adults from the Central, Eastern Kwa Zulu Natal, Northern Kwa Zulu Natal, and Mpumalanga & eSwatini Divisions. These Candidates gathered with one shared purpose: responding to God’s call upon their lives as they journey towards potential Officership in The Salvation Army.

Throughout the assessment, the Candidates were evaluated in multiple areas to ensure their readiness for entry into the College for Officer Training. Psychological, academic, and vocational assessments provided a comprehensive understanding of each Candidate’s strengths and areas for development. This week, they also underwent language proficiency evaluations, and prior to the assessment, they completed medical evaluations, ensuring they are well-prepared for the diverse challenges of ministry.

A key aspect of the assessment was a series of interviews conducted by panels composed of Officers, local Officers, and the Divisional social worker from Central Division. These interviews allowed the Candidates to share their personal journeys, including their testimonies and the ways in which they have felt God’s call to Officership. This was a meaningful time of reflection and affirmation, as each Candidate articulated how God has been leading them to this point.

As we thank God for these eight young people who have responded to His call, we also recognize the significance of this moment in their lives. This assessment is a crucial step in their journey, helping them to understand more clearly how God is calling them to serve.

We ask our readers to continue to uplift these Candidates in prayer. As they seek to understand God’s will, may they be guided with clarity and courage, remaining obedient to His leading. May they find peace in knowing that He who has called them is faithful and will continue to guide them every step of the way.
