On 21st January 2025, the Territorial Headquarters (THQ) hosted a Social Orientation Programme for Officers from across the Territory who are stepping into new appointments within our Social Centres or roles connected to social programmes. The event, led by Major Noluntu Semeno, the Social Programme Secretary, proved to be an invaluable day of learning, preparation, and spiritual encouragement.

The day began with devotions, centering the participants on God’s Word and His call to serve. From there, the programme covered a variety of practical and mission-focused topics to equip the Officers for the demands of their new roles.

Key areas addressed included:

  • Administration and Financial Management: Ensuring effective stewardship of resources while maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Navigating policies and systems to ensure alignment with legal and organisational standards.
  • Missional Impact: Highlighting the importance of integrating The Salvation Army’s mission in all aspects of service.
  • Human Resources: Providing guidance on managing teams effectively and ensuring compliance with labour laws.
  • Public Relations: Learning how to fundraise, communicate and engage effectively with the public to build awareness and support. Building and maintaining partnerships with various government departments.
  • Child Protection: Addressing crucial matters to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children in our care.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage in a Question-and-Answer session. This open dialogue allowed them to clarify doubts, deepen their understanding, and share insights with one another.

As we reflect on this enriching day, we thank God for the Officers who have stepped into these vital appointments. We pray for His wisdom, peace, and joy to guide them as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of their new roles. May they share salvation and hope to those they serve, bringing God’s love to life in every action and decision.
