This Easter, Salvationists in Namibia, which forms part of The Salvation Army’s Western Cape Division, experienced a powerful and joy-filled weekend of worship, community outreach, and spiritual renewal. The message of Christ’s death and resurrection was not only remembered—it was proclaimed with boldness and celebrated with deep gratitude.
The Easter gatherings were led by Lieut-Colonel KL Jwili, who served as guest for the Holy Week and Easter weekend’s events held in Windhoek and surrounding areas. In preparation, Holy Week proceedings were observed with reverence and a sense of expectancy. Each day leading up to Easter, Salvationists gathered for prayer meetings, seeking to prepare their hearts and minds to fully embrace the significance of the cross and the empty tomb.

On Palm Sunday, a March of Witness took to the streets, with 51 adults and 47 children joyfully proclaiming the name of Jesus and the hope of Easter. Good Friday services were moving and well attended, offering space for reflection on the sacrifice of Christ. On Saturday, the focus shifted to outreach, with a March of Witness and open-air meeting in Otjomuise, where Salvationists shared their testimonies and the message of salvation. There was engagement with the community, visitation in people’s homes and Salvation Army branded pens and calendars were given to the community along the way. As a result, 14 people made commitments to Christ, and we give God all the glory.

Resurrection Sunday, celebrated on 27 April, brought joyful praise and worship. Eleven babies and children were dedicated to the Lord by Lieut-Colonel Jwili in a special moment of thanksgiving. The Easter Sunday message centred on redemption, empowerment, and the spiritual authority believers have through the risen Christ.

Throughout the weekend, musical brigades added to the worship experience, reminding everyone that Easter is a time of reverence and rejoicing.
We praise God for every soldier, junior soldier, and friend of The Salvation Army in Namibia. May the resurrection hope we celebrated this Easter continue to shape mission and strengthen faith in the days ahead.
