I was raised in a loving Christian family within The Salvation Army. From a young age, my mom and family planted seeds of faith in me. Sunday school, Sunday meetings, and songs of worship were part of my daily life. But beyond the routine of church, I encountered something deeper, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I was only eight years old when I truly came to know Him as my Lord and Saviour and was enrolled as a Junior Soldier. It was a simple yet life changing moment when I realised that Jesus loved me personally and wanted to walk with me every day.
Called and Sustained by His Grace
Even as a child, I sensed that God had a special calling on my life. When asked about my future plans, I often told people that I wanted to become a social worker or psychologist because I had a deep desire to help others. But deep in my heart, I knew that God was preparing me for something more, to serve Him as an officer in The Salvation Army. That calling never left me, and as I grew older, it became clearer that my passion for people and compassion for those in need were gifts meant for ministry.
Today, I have the great privilege of serving as a Salvation Army officer. It is a humbling and fulfilling role that allows me to walk alongside women of all ages, helping them discover their worth in Christ and encouraging them to live out their God given purpose. Every day, I am reminded that ministry is not about titles or positions, it is about service, love, and obedience to God’s leading.
One of the greatest challenges in ministry is leaving the familiar. There are moments when I question whether I am strong enough for the journey. Yet, I hold on to Joshua 1:9. It says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Through it all, God has been my continuous strength. His grace carries me, and His presence reminds me that wherever He sends me, He goes before me. Through this journey, I have learned that walking with Jesus requires trust and submission. There will be challenges, but there will also be victories, each one revealing more of His faithfulness.
To anyone reading this who may feel uncertain about the future or fearful of stepping out in faith, I want to encourage you. When God calls, He also equips. His plans are always greater than our own, and His grace is enough for every season. God sees you, loves you, and has a purpose for your life. Keep your eyes on Him, and you will see His hand guiding you every step of the way.
