My name is Cadet Mdumiseni Buthelezi from Northern Kwa Zulu Natal Division. My home Corps is Ombimbini Corps. First of all, I would like to thank God for choosing me to be one of his shepherds. I believe that being raised by parents who were Salvationists has helped me to know about Jesus Christ.

In 2016 I felt that God was calling me, but it was a difficult time for me. I asked God to give me assurance that I was called. I entered the College For Officer Training (CFOT) in 2022 because by that time, I knew that God wanted to use me in this way. Coming to the CFOT was a challenge because I was required to start a new journey with different people, but all in all, I thank God for His grace that kept me this far. Being in the CFOT became a blessing to me because I learned a lot of things related to officership and the life I must live as an officer.

… If God wants to use me for His mission, nothing can stop it.

I can confidently say I know if God wants to use me for His mission, nothing can stop it. I strongly believe that God qualifies the unqualified. There were times when I felt I was not sufficiently qualified to be an officer of The Salvation Army, but I did not choose this calling, rather God chose me. I am simply obeying His call upon my life. I embraced challenges during out training, and I can say with conviction that God was with me because I managed to do His work in a good way. Loving the people I was sent to was one of my strengths throughout out training. Deuteronomy 31:8 says ‘The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.’

I am not afraid

As God always goes before me, I will never stop proclaiming the good news about Him. I am grateful for the knowledge that I am never alone. I am not afraid because whatever I face along my journey, I know my God will be with me. I am blessed to be chosen by God and I am willing to do what will please the One who called me. It’s not about me, but about God! Be blessed!
