It always caught my attention, those daredevil guys that walk on ropes hanging over cliffs putting their life at risk. Therefore, it amazed me when, some time ago, Spencer Seabrooke broke the world record for walking on a slackline between two cliffs in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. He was able to complete the distance of 64 meters walking at 290 meters above the ground without any safety nets or lines. Needless to say that if he had fallen, he would not have survived.
The secret for the equilibrists, is to maintain a perfect balance not over pending to one side or to the other focusing on the goal ahead. However, that is easier said than done, for the adventurer must deal with the blowing wind, the wobbling rope, and its own doubting mind.
Walking along our present society we feel the same challenge. The foundational pillars are being shaken and the former landmarks are being blasted making us hesitate and loose our footing. But no matter how hard the surroundings destabilize us we must continue to walk avoiding pending to one side or to another and pressing ahead with determination.
As Christians we have Jesus Christ as our guide! He not only walks with us every step of the way but also goes ahead of us showing the path we can take. With Jesus, we are not walking on a wobbling rope because he is also the eternal rock that provides us with the necessary stability to walk confidently.
If in your life journey the wind is blowing excessively, the rope is overly shaking, and your mind is increasingly doubting, it is time for you to ask Jesus to be present in your life to enable you to face the present and future with confidence allowing you to surpass your own limits.
