Divisional Leaders, Lieutenant Colonels Solomon and Mercy Mahlangu, arranged training for Local Officers in the Limpopo Division. On May 18, 2024, the William Eadie Corps hosted this important event, and it was encouraging to see over 100 Local Officers, along with their Corps Officers, present to take part. The Divisional Leaders had previously noted, as they traveled through the Division, that there was a need to equip leaders who are already commissioned and those acting in various positions.
The training began with an atmosphere of anticipation as local officers gathered to receive the information prepared for the day. The Divisional Commander welcomed everyone in attendance and gave a special introduction to Captains M and N Memani (Secretary for Business Administration and Administrator at Ethembeni), who were the guests for the weekend. Captains Memani commenced the training, which proved to be helpful and insightful. The devotion, based on Colossians 3:23-24, reminded attendees that they are serving the Lord and that God uses even those who seem weak and despised to do His work.
The information, based on the Orders and Regulations (O&R) and Scripture, became relatable through examples of real-life experiences and the open platform to engage and ask questions. The topics included conditions of Local Officership, appointment and tenure, roles and responsibilities, among others. The final session after lunch was conducted in two separate groups, and each Corps was equipped with a copy of the resources. The Limpopo Division voice their gratitude to God for this opportunity, as it has made it easier for Officers with acting Local Officers and has been a good refresher for those who will continue to serve.

On Sunday, the Officers, Local Officers, Soldiers and many Junior Soldiers met at Tshaulu Corps for a divisional gathering focused on the launch of OWSOMS and honouring the Territorial Day of Prayer. The day’s proceedings commenced with a march of witness in the community surrounding Tshaulu Corps. During the morning service, Captain M. Memani led a time of prayer focused on the upcoming national elections, while Captain N. Memani led the launch of OWSOMS. Certificates of acknowledgment were presented to the three Corps that had been the highest contributors to OWSOMS in 2023.

As the Limpopo Division continues to focus on mission, we trust God for greater things to come. Growing side by side, the Officers, Local Officers and Soldiers are committed to advancing the work of The Salvation Army seeking to make an eternal impact in their communities.
