As part of observing Mandela Day, THQ officers, employees, CFOT staff, cadets and mission team members united to serve at Uitkoms Home for Girls and Emmarentia Eventide Home. The team picked up their brushes and got to work on the wall fence at Uitkoms Home for Girls. The weathered fence was transformed with a fresh coat of paint through simple but sincere acts of service.

The heart of serving didn’t stop at Uitkoms. At Emmarentia Eventide Home, two of the residents’ bedrooms received warmly welcomed attention with a fresh coat of paint. Some of the volunteers also washed windows, while enjoying opportunities to engage with the residents of the home. Additionally, the group took the opportunity to pray for the administrators and staff of Emmarentia Eventide Home, trusting God to grant them strength and wisdom as they love and serve the residents in their care.

In reflecting on these small acts of service, we are reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
