On Thursday, 28 November, members of the Territorial Advisory Board and the Territorial Governance Board gathered for a farewell dinner honouring our Territorial Leaders, Commissioner Torben Eliasen and Commissioner Deise Eliasen, as they prepare to conclude their active service in the Southern Africa Territory. The dinner was held at a venue made possible through the generosity of a friend of the mission, allowing the Boards to express their appreciation without drawing on Salvation Army resources.

Major Thataetsile Semeno, Territorial Communications and Public Relations Secretary, welcomed the group. This was followed by opening remarks from the Chief Secretary, Lieut Colonel Themba Mahlobo, who spoke warmly of the Commissioners’ leadership and dedication.

Mr Simon Madi, speaking on behalf of the Governance Board, expressed appreciation for the Commissioners’ commitment to strong governance and their leadership. He was followed by the Secretary for Business Administration, Captain Mteteleli Memani, who shared insight into the ongoing ministry of The Salvation Army and the foundations strengthened during the Commissioner’s time in the Territory.

Both the Territorial President of Women’s Ministries, Commissioner Deise Eliasen, and the Territorial Commander, Commissioner Torben Eliasen, responded with gratitude to the Lord for their years in Southern Africa, reflecting on the privilege of serving and the relationships formed across the Territory. As they prepare to enter retirement and return to their home territory, they expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve in Southern Africa.

The evening concluded with an epilogue shared by Lieut Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo, offering words of blessing and encouragement and acknowledging God’s continued faithfulness in the journey of serving the Lord.

The gathering served as an expression of thanksgiving for the Commissioners’ ministry, their leadership, and the Christlike spirit with which they have served the Southern Africa Territory.
