A much anticipated celebration finally took place on 16 November 2025, as The Salvation Army Germiston Corps marked a century of service, 100 years since it moved from the old train station building on 14 November 1925. Despite the rain, God’s children showed up in full force, filling the service with shouts of “Ebenezer” and thanksgiving. Truly, God always brings to completion what He begins (Philippians 1:6): “And I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.”

The service was conducted by the Divisional Leaders, Majors A and S Nhandara, alongside the guests, Lieut. Colonels T and N Mahlobo, supported by fellow officers, the Katlehong Band, friends of the Army, and Salvationists. There was a wonderful incorporation of musical items from the different brigades, including timbres, hosho, the band, and singing, showcasing the diversity of God’s church today.

The celebration was also a time of reflection, looking back at the contributions of past generations in building the Kingdom of God and embracing their legacy. All the officers who served at the Corps were remembered and appreciated for their faithful service to the Germiston community. The Chief Secretary, Lieut. Colonel T Mahlobo, challenged the soldiers to learn from the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to changing the status quo and advancing God’s mission. “What legacy are you leaving for the future generation?” he asked.

The programme concluded with a message from TSWM, Lieut. Colonel N Mahlobo, who shared from Exodus 15:1-2 that all things, whether big or small, are worth celebrating: “Let us celebrate!”
