On Sunday, 18th January 2026, Salvationists from across the Southern Africa Territory gathered with joyful expectation for the installation and welcome of Colonels Stephen and Theresa Malins as Territorial Commander and Territorial President for Women’s Ministries.

The meeting began with the singing of the National Anthem. Music from the divisional band and songsters contributed throughout the programme, enriching the time of worship. The Central Divisional Band performed a stirring arrangement by Steven Ponsford entitled Life Ablaze, while the Mpumalanga and eSwatini songsters sang beautifully, including a prayerful phrase from one of their songs: “For winning souls my life engage.” Voices joined together in chorus and congregational songs, lifting praise to God, acknowledging His greatness and celebrating His presence among those gathered.

During the welcome and installation, a seperate programme ministered to children under the guidance of the Territorial Youth Secretary, Captain Desiré Dathini, and her team. The young people received teaching from God’s Word in ways that were meaningful, fun and relevant, pointing them to Jesus and encouraging them in their walk with Him.

At the start of the service, Lieut-Colonel Themba Mahlobo, the Chief Secretary, welcomed all in attendance and declared: “We serve a mighty God!” He also welcomed the International Secretaries for Africa, Commissioners Keith and Yvonne Conrad, who had come from International Headquarters for the installation of the new Territorial Leaders.

In her response, Commissioner Yvonne Conrad encouraged the Territory to support the new leaders, work alongside them, and build the Kingdom of God together, reminding all: “The God who carried us in 2025 will carry us in 2026 – He is a faithful God, we can trust Him!”

Following this, Commissioners Conrad led Colonels Stephen and Theresa Malins through the installation ceremony. As part of the ceremony, Commissioner Yvonne Conrad prayed over the new Territorial Leaders, committing them to God’s guidance and grace. Commissioner Keith Conrad then read a letter from General Lyndon Buckingham addressing the new Territorial Leaders.

Several speakers addressed the new Territorial Leaders on behalf of different sections within the Territory. CSM P. Mongalo spoke on behalf of the Soldiers, Ntando Hadebe represented the Youth and Junior Soldiers, CSM Mbali Mchunu shared words from Women’s Ministries, and Major Velani Buthelezi spoke on behalf of the Officers. Each expressed support and encouragement for the new leaders, affirming the commitment of the Territory to work alongside them in mission.

In response, Colonel Theresa Malins spoke with gratitude, acknowledging the work of the previous Territorial Leaders. She also shared that she and her husband are part of the Builders of the Kingdom session and affirmed that they will continue to live out their sessional name as they serve, building the Kingdom of God in every area of their ministry.

Colonel Stephen Malins shared the Bible message, centering on God’s invitation to “come to the table” based on Psalm 23:5 and encouraging Salvationists to take their place at God’s table with confidence and trust. To support this focus, he referenced Jeremiah 29:12, emphasizing the importance of calling on God in prayer, and Acts 2:42-47, highlighting how being part of a committed community reflects God’s table of fellowship. The message reminded everyone that God’s invitation is personal and available to all, calling them to accept their place in His presence. A time of reflection and response followed, during which many came forward for prayer.

As Colonels Stephen and Theresa Malins were welcomed and installed, God’s faithfulness was celebrated, and everyone was reminded to come to the table, take their place in His work, and continue growing together side by side.
