Today, 20 November 2025, members of the Territorial Headquarters family gathered for a special time of prayer in preparation for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, a national campaign calling South Africans to stand together against the ongoing crisis of abuse in our homes and communities.
The programme opened with a powerful and thought provoking dance presented by the Mission Team, inviting each person to begin from a posture of reflection and responsibility. The Territorial Secretary for Womens Ministries, Lieut Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo, warmly welcomed everyone and reminded us that these global 16 days call for action and that action begins with awareness and a willingness to be sensitive to the reality of GBV around us. She encouraged the THQ family to be alert, informed and engaged so that the Church can be a place where victims find both safety and support.
Lieut Colonel Doris Dlamini led a time of prayer before the mornings guest, Sergeant Zodwa Metswamere from the South African Police Service, addressed the gathering. Sergeant Metswamere serves within the Family Violence, Sexual Abuse, GBV and Child Protection Investigative Unit and brought valuable insight into the serious need for incidents of abuse to be reported. Too many cases remain hidden in silence, she explained, which leaves victims without help and prevents justice from being pursued. She shared how survivors can access support at the SAPS with additional support available through social workers based at police stations and emphasised that speaking up is a critical step toward reducing the pandemic of GBV in our country. A question and answer segment followed, giving the floor an opportunity to engage more deeply with this vital information.
The Territorial President for Womens Ministries, Commissioner Deise Eliasen, expressed her gratitude to Sergeant Metswamere for her service and prayed a blessing over her and all who work daily on the frontlines of protection and justice. The Territorial Gender Justice Coordinator, Mr Vusi Malala, reinforced the mornings teaching through a short quiz. Ms B Mabatha then guided the THQ family in a moment of commitment, giving space to reflect personally on what each of us is called to do.

Commissioner Deise Eliasen concluded the teaching by reminding us that every follower of Christ is invited to Pray, Act and Speak. To pray for boldness, victims, advocates and perpetrators. Action brings help where help is needed most. Speaking up ensures that truth is not silenced. When we stand together in this way, we reflect the heart of Gods Kingdom, a Kingdom where dignity is restored, justice is upheld and every person is recognised as precious in His sight.
The Territorial Commander, Commissioner Torben Eliasen, closed the gathering in prayer and benediction. As we move toward the official start of the 16 Days of Activism, may we continue to be people who notice, people who care and people who take a stand, not only in these next two weeks, but every day until violence gives way to peace in every home.
