The Central Division gathered in thanksgiving on Sunday, 23 November 2025, to honour and farewell the Territorial Leaders, Commissioners Torben and Deise Eliasen. The Divisional Leaders, Majors Annanias and Sengeziwe Nhandara, together with Officers, Retired Officers, Local Officers, Soldiers and Friends of the Division, filled Peart Memorial Corps for this special occasion.
Following the welcome and introductions, Captain Gerald Kababde, Divisional Youth Officer, led the congregation in worship, encouraging all present to lift high the Name of the Lord as they sang together “O Be Lifted, Above All Other Gods.” Voices of appreciation then flowed from representatives across the Division. Ms Makanaka Kasenza expressed gratitude on behalf of the youth, thanking the Territorial Leaders for their care and spiritual encouragement, particularly for the young people of the Central Division.
Representing the Junior Soldiers, Jondrell Mbemba spoke warmly of the leaders’ prayers, their love for children and their encouragement to use their gifts for God’s glory. Mrs Rudo Masango, speaking for the women of the Division, shared deep appreciation for Commissioner Deise’s ministry, describing her as a compassionate, loving and strong woman of faith who made others feel valued and seen through her interactions, and also voiced appreciation for the TPWM’s creative and indepth teaching from the Word.
Mr B. Bertha brought greetings on behalf of the Local Officers and Men’s Fellowship, acknowledging the impact of the leaders’ visits to Corps and their Biblical teaching. Major Thanda Muyanga gave thanks on behalf of the Officers for their visionary leadership and Christ-like example. Colonel Mirriam Mavundla spoke on behalf of the Retired Officers, expressing gratitude for their willingness to leave home and serve the mission of Christ in Southern Africa.
The Divisional Songsters and Divisional Band enriched the worship, with the band presenting a beautiful arrangement including Lord You Know That We Love You and I Love You Lord.
Commissioner Deise responded with appreciation for the warmth, acceptance and support received from the Division, testifying to God’s faithfulness throughout their journey and encouraging the congregation to always give thanks to the Lord. Lieut Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo, Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, thanked the Central Division, and every Division in the Territory, for the love and support shown to the Territorial Leaders throughout their service. She then led the congregation in a united declaration through song: I’ll Go in the Strength of the Lord.

Commissioner Torben expressed his gratitude to the Sectional Heads, Officers, Retired Officers, Soldiers and Local Officers for their partnership in ministry. He shared a message from Matthew 14:22–33, reminding the congregation that Jesus surrounds every storm-tossed boat, calls His people to step out in faith and is always ready to save. He encouraged both Soldiers and Officers in the Southern Africa Territory to believe that, through Christ, they can step out in faith and “walk on water.” A powerful moment of response followed as many came forward to the altar, and the Spirit of God moved strongly among His people.
A gift from the Division was presented to the Territorial Leaders by Antonette Grobler, and Major Nhandara led a united time of prayer for God’s continued guidance over their retirement. The Divisional Commander also celebrated God’s provision through the Self-Denial Appeal, announcing a total of R304 469,90 for the Division, reflecting an almost 25 percent increase from the previous year.
Before the service concluded, the Territorial President of Women’s Ministries, accompanied by the Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries, presented certificates to various Corps in recognition of their women’s ministry achievements. Colonel Hezekiel Mavundla then closed the meeting in prayer and pronounced the benediction.
The Central Division’s farewell gathering reflected deep love, appreciation and the shared blessing of God’s presence. Commissioners Torben and Deise Eliasen leave with the gratitude and prayers of the Territory as they continue to serve Him in their retirement.
