The Territorial Leaders visit the Island of St Helena.

Amidst the vastness of the South Atlantic Ocean, lies the beautiful haven of St. Helena—an island which could quite possibly be the most isolated Salvation Army Corps in the world.  It was in May 1884 that The Salvation Army set foot on this remote island, igniting a spiritual awakening that grew and established the ministry which exists today.

Commissioners Torben & Deise Eliason landed on St Helena on Tuesday, 29 August 2023, for a five day visit. Their time on the Island was fruitful and insightful as the Commissioners attended a music festival, met the Governor of the Island, enrolled new adherents, dedicated a beautiful baby, led men’s ministry and women’s ministry, interacted with the community, engaged in ecumenical fellowship and even climbed the 700 plus steps of Jacob’s Ladder.
