This week, the senior citizens at the newly established Elderly Day Care Centre at Mabopane Corps shared a heart warming Christmas lunch. Embracing the theme of ‘Purity,’ the elderly dressed in white for the occasion, creating a joyful and uplifting atmosphere in the hall. Gratitude overflowed as the elderly expressed their appreciation to The Salvation Army, with some noting that this might be their only special Christmas lunch for the year. Amidst the celebrations, the room was filled with the sentiment behind the beautiful Christmas Carol “O come let us adore Him,” as the seniors joyfully sang and danced in worship before the Lord.
In reflecting upon the impact of this new programme, we voice our gratitude to God for the work He has accomplished. We trust that lives have been enriched, and anticipate that this initiative will continue to draw senior citizens in Mabopane closer to Him in the days to come. May the seeds planted through this programme blossom into life changing experiences and deeper connections with the Lord.
Is your Corps doing anything special for the elderly or the vulnerable in your Community this Christmas time? If so, please share details with The War Cry in the comments below – we would love to hear from you!
