Today is Covenant Day for the Reflectors of Holiness session. In the weeks leading up to this significant day, a substantial amount of time has been devoted to classes and personal reflection with the Cadets delving into the deep meaning of entering into covenant with God. This day holds unique and sacred significance in the lives of all Officers, distinct from the upcoming commissioning and ordination scheduled for later this week. It is a day reserved for personal reflection and communion between the Cadets and God.
Covenant day stands as a sacred and deeply meaningful occasion, where Cadets solemnly enter into a covenant relationship with God, dedicating their lives to Him through the ministry of The Salvation Army. This holy moment unfolds today within a private gathering attended by Cadets, College for Officer Training Staff, Territorial Leaders, Cabinet members and Divisional Leaders.
The Officer’s Covenant which Cadets sign states:
CALLED BY GOD to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as an Officer of The Salvation Army, I bind myself to Him in this solemn covenant: to love and serve Him supremely all my days, to live to win souls and make their salvation the first purpose of my life, to care for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, love the unloved, and befriend those who have no friends, to maintain the doctrines and principles of The Salvation Army, and, by God’s grace, to prove myself a worthy officer. Done in the strength of my Lord and Saviour, and in the presence of my leaders and comrade salvationists.
Please continue to pray for the Cadets as they prepare for their Ordination and Commissioning this weekend.
