Fifty days after Easter, a celebration takes place that changes everything. Pentecost. A day marking the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ as described in Acts 2:1-13. Pentecost is more than an event; it’s the birth of the Church and the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send the Advocate, the Holy Spirit.

Imagine the scene: the apostles, gathered in one place, their hearts heavy with anticipation. Suddenly, a sound like a violent wind fills the house. Tongues of fire appear, resting on each of them. In that God-ordained moment, they are filled with the Holy Spirit, and they begin to speak in various languages. This miraculous experience draws a diverse crowd in Jerusalem. Jews from every nation are stunned to hear their native tongues spoken by Galileans. Peter seizes this moment, preaching with newfound courage, leading to the conversion of about three thousand souls. What a transformation!
