The Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory is excited to announce the launch of our annual Winter Warmth Campaign. This year, the campaign will kick off on the 08 June 2024.
Territorial Leaders will launch the campaign, Commissioners Eliasen will be in Johannesburg and Lieut Colonels Mahlobo will be in Port Elizabeth and Ibhayi. Their presence and leadership in the campaign underscores the importance of this initiative and the commitment of the Salvation Army to bring warmth and comfort to those in need during the winter months under the theme – “Serving Suffering Humanity Side by Side”.
This is not just any drive, but a mission to connect with the heart of our campaign – the families & individuals who will benefit from it. For the Winter Warmth Campaign, we encourage Salvationists, employees and friends to give generously and provide warmth and comfort to those in need during the cold winter months.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Warm Clothing: This includes new or gently used coats, sweaters, hats, gloves and scarves. We especially need children’s sizes.
2. Blankets and Bedding: New or clean, gently used blankets, comforters and sleeping bags.
3. Heating Supplies: Portable heaters, hot water bottles and heating pads.
4. Non-perishable Food Items: Canned goods, dry foods and other non-perishable items can be a great help.
5. Monetary Donations: These are always welcome and can be used to purchase needed items that are not donated.
DHQs, Corps and Centres are encouraged to have a box in their hall/office where soldiers and community members can drop off their donations. DHQs, Corps and Centres may also approach persons of influence in their communities to help raise the above mentioned donations.
We hope to mobilize ALL Salvationists, employees & friends around the territory for community engagement on the launch date (Saturday, 08 June 2024) and have everyone out on the streets giving out blankets, soup and warm clothes.
Remember, every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference in someone’s life this winter.
Thank you for your support!
