The session of the Champions of the Mission Cadets recently had a wonderful and Spirit-led campaign in the Eastern Kwa-Zulu Natal Division. It was a six-day campaign focused on spreading the Gospel of Jesus in different communities within the division and bringing about revival among young people. The campaign included a Y-Connexion weekend, which took place in Dondotha.

Cadets and CFOT staff arrived in the division on Monday, June 17, at Mandeni Corps and were warmly welcomed by the Divisional Leaders and youth and children’s ministries leaders. In the evening, we had a prayer meeting, which was a great and powerful start to the campaign. Captain L. Zola (DDWM) shared a timely encouragement with everyone present, especially the cadets, from Jeremiah 18, highlighting three important and relevant points: Be attentive to the voice of God, be aware of His presence, and believe that there is a message God has placed in your life that will transform someone’s life.

The campaign week included various ministries such as door-to-door visitation, one-on-one evangelism, open-air meetings, Bible studies, evening prayer and holiness meetings, hospital visitation, and kids’ ministries (kids’ clubs and joy hours). These ministries took place in different communities where the Army is present. Cadets commenced in the Estill Corps community with door-to-door visitation and one-on-one evangelism. After that, they split into two groups: one group engaged in kids’ ministry and an evening holiness meeting at Wangu, while the other group went to Evutha Corps for a young adults’ Bible study.

On the second day of the campaign, after morning prayers, the cadets walked through the community of eMandeni to a nearby shopping center where they held an open-air meeting. As they made their way there, they also witnessed to people they met on the road, sharing the Gospel and offering prayers and invitations to the open-air meeting. The open-air meeting was fruitful, with several people responding to the message. Five people came to the mercy seat and made a decision for Christ, while others requested prayers for their various needs.

After the open-air meeting, the cadets split into two groups again, with one group remaining at Mandeni for kids’ ministry and the other group going to Wentani Corps, where they also ministered to children in the community. Later on, the cadets led a meaningful Bible study at Wetani Corps, which concluded with powerful songs of praise and devotion.

The following day, we served the Catherine Booth Corps community. Cadets led the home league meeting beautifully. After the meeting, they went to engage in hospital visitation, where they had the opportunity to share words of encouragement with the patients and pray with them. From there, they went to visit people in their homes. They also had the privilege of visiting Major Joel Mbambo Mathunjwa’s conversion memorial place, where they were inspired by the brief history shared with them. Later in the afternoon, the cadets led a youth meeting at Catherine Booth Corps.

The week concluded with the Y-Connexion weekend. The theme was GROW, with two sub-themes: growing in wisdom and growing in Christ. It was a Spirit-filled and transformative weekend. Among the many activities and ministries, there was a session on ‘Explore Officership,’ where young people had the opportunity to ask questions related to calling and officership. Many young people asked relevant questions, and officers shared a lot of insights in response. Another session involved discussions, where the younger youth separated from young adults. Topics included how sexually intimate relationships before marriage can hinder spiritual growth and how young people can prevent this hindrance. The other group focused on careers. The weekend concluded with a powerful holiness meeting led by the cadets. We started with a march of witness around the community of Dondotha, followed by the meeting. It was a good meeting, and the presence of God was felt throughout. Cadet Dlamini encouraged young people to make their spiritual growth a priority, emphasizing that growing in grace results in growing in the likeness of Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, three young people responded to the call to officership, and we thank God for that.

Throughout all these ministries, the hand of God was evident, and His presence was felt all the way. We thank God for His faithfulness and are grateful to the EKZN Division for the ministry opportunity given to the cadets to minister in the Division.
