The Mid-KZN Division recently hosted the highly anticipated Y-Connection 2024 event, which left attendees filled with anticipation for what’s to come. The event took place on the 2nd – 4th of August 2024 and saw a remarkable turnout of 230 youth and young adults from various Corps within the Division.
The event commenced with a grand opening led by the Mission Team, who set the tone with lively praise and worship, and a skit that seamlessly tied into the theme of the weekend: Identity. The evening culminated with a powerful message delivered by Lieutenant Promise Phello, focusing on the sub-theme of Identity in Others, leaving a lasting impact on all those in attendance.

As the event transitioned into the following day, the young people were divided into two distinct groups – the young adults and the teen zone. It was during this session that the Youth and Young Adults Programme Coordinator unveiled the highly anticipated Young Adults Programme. The launch of this programme was met with success, setting the stage for a new chapter in the Division’s youth ministry. The teen zone section had a special guest; Talitar Mshede who shed light on how teenagers can cope with challenges that affect their identity.

Following the launch, the programme coordinator passed the baton to the Divisional Youth Officer (DYO) and Divisional Children’s Ministry Officer (DCMO), presenting them with a comprehensive guide on ‘How to Launch a Young Adults Programme’. This guide is set to be implemented in every Corps within the Division, ensuring a consistent and impactful rollout of the programme.

In a thought-provoking turn of events, a podcast-style discussion took centre stage, delving into the sub-theme of Identity with Self. The discussion featured a special guest, Slindile Ninela-Dlamini, speaking on the importance of self-identity and the journey to self-discovery. This interactive session provided valuable insights and sparked meaningful conversations among the attendees.
The day was far from over as the event continued to unfold with excitement and engaging activities. From team-building games to interactive engagements, the young adults and youth in attendance were kept busy throughout the day, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community spirit among the participants. Following the day’s event the night was concluded with a state-of-the-art Gala Dinner which was a moment of reflection on the weekend and getting to share a meal and a worship explosion which concluded with the sharing of the Word that was rendered by Captain Vukani Nkosi.

The weekend ended with an epic Sunday worship session and the breaking of bread under the sub-theme: Identity with God which was shared by Lieutenant Gregory Phello. The event brought about a wonderful opportunity for individuals to come together and foster connections, build relationships and grow personally and spiritually.

In conclusion, the Mid-KZN Y-Connection 2024 event was marked by moments of inspiration, education and, most importantly, spiritual empowerment. The launch of the Young Adults Programme signifies a new chapter in the Division’s youth ministry, promising a future filled with growth, development and transformation.
