On 28 September 2024, the Western Cape Division Women’s Ministries gathered at Hesketh King Treatment Centre to celebrate the theme “Flourish,” based on Psalm 1:3. The weather didn’t deter the women, and over 340 ladies of all ages came together to spend time with God and each other.

The event opened with a beautiful rendition of “This is Us,” showcasing unity in diversity through vibrant cultural representations—featuring the colourful Kaapse Klopse, along with English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Shona, Ndebele, and Congolese influences.

As the morning unfolded, Pastor Yvonne Masela encouraged the women to flourish no matter where they are planted. The second part of the day consisted of four breakout sessions: Flourishing Through Times of Anxiety, Mental Health, Side Hustle, and GIRLS Talk. Women were encouraged to take care of their mental well-being and remove the masks they often wear.

The final session was a time of praise and encouragement, led by Captain Sindi Nkosi, who emphasized four key points:
- Be mindful of the company you keep.
- Find contentment and commitment in the Word of God.
- Avoid comparing yourself to others.
- Take comfort in the sovereignty of God.
A special moment of prayer followed, where each woman was given a paper flower with her name written in the center. The women were invited to hang their flowers on a bare tree, symbolizing the need to bear fruit and flourish. Once all the flowers were on the tree, officers removed the names and prayed for each individual.

The Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries (DDWM) took a moment to thank the Retired Officers and Silver Star moms for their valuable contributions to the mission. It was also wonderful to see the fourfold aims of Women’s Ministries beautifully depicted in storyboards by Lt. Desire Dathini.

The day concluded with a call for the ladies to go out and flourish! We give thanks to God for His benevolent favour over the entire event.
