Today, the THQ family gathered for a special tree lighting ceremony, led by Territorial Commander Commissioner Torben Eliasen. Commissioner Eliasen shared a piece of Salvation Army history, recounting how the tradition of raising funds through kettles began over a hundred years ago through the vision of one officer. This simple idea has evolved into a powerful way that God uses to support and sustain mission efforts that have a worldwide impact. The THQ Band, made up of employees and officers, filled the air with beautiful Christmas carols. The Territorial President for Women’s Ministries Commissioner Deise Eliasen’s devotion on Jesus as The Word was meaningful to those in attendance. The ceremony concluded with the Territorial Commander and Territorial President of Women’s Ministries jointly lighting the Christmas tree, marking the beginning of a time to prepare our hearts as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the light and life He has brought to us all. May we all rejoice in His coming this Christmas!
