This past weekend, young people gathered for Y-Connection 2025, an impactful event themed “This is My Story.” The event, filled with worship, reflection, and transformation, encouraged attendees to embrace their personal journeys and see God’s hand in their lives.
The weekend kicked off on Friday as excited young people arrived at camp, greeted warmly by the organizing team. The evening session set the stage for deep introspection, reminding participants that their stories are real, valuable, and shaped by God. Anchored in Acts 9:17 by the DYO, the story of Paul’s dramatic transformation from a persecutor to a preacher of the Gospel challenged attendees to see how God can redeem any past and attach His name to their lives.

Saturday morning began with a quiet time of devotion and prayer, allowing young people to connect with God individually and in small groups. The morning session, led by guest speaker Brittany Malins, delved into the theme of redemption, encouraging attendees to speak about their stories in a positive light and allow God to transform their past. Through the engaging “River of Life” exercise, young adults explored the role God plays in shaping their journeys. The DC, Major Robert Wright, closed the session, reminding the young adults to acknowledge the difficulties of their stories but not to forget to see God’s hand in them. Meanwhile, youth in the main hall participated in intentional activities that connected storytelling with faith.

The afternoon provided an opportunity to relax and connect, with a trip to the beach offering a refreshing break. Laughter and fellowship filled the air as attendees enjoyed the ocean and free time with new and old friends.

Saturday evening was a powerful celebration of personal achievements and testimonies. Stories of young people excelling in school and making a difference in their communities were highlighted. Major Colin Mashaba closed the night with an inspiring message, reminding attendees that they are “more than conquerors” through Christ and should celebrate the victories in their stories.
Sunday morning brought the final session, centred on the parable of the prodigal son. Youth leader Rashied Damons from Manenberg Corps delivered a heartfelt message, emphasizing that everyone’s story matters and that God, like the father in the parable, is always ready to welcome His children back. The session served as a powerful reminder that, while parts of our stories remain unwritten, they are securely held in the hands of a loving Father.

Throughout the weekend, moments of prayer, worship, and even bonfire sessions provided space for reflection and renewal. As Y-Connection 2025 came to a close, one resounding truth remained—our stories are not complete without God. Lives were transformed, voices were found, and faith was strengthened.
This is our story, and it is still being written.
