Six Officers attending the sessional review for the Reflectors of Holiness participated in a four-day Refresher Course themed Steadfast Servant Leadership. The Secretary for Personnel, Lieut. Colonel T. Dlamini, welcomed the Officers and opened the course by explaining the principles of steadfast servant leadership. He emphasized the importance of humility and steadfastness in the journey of Officers, highlighting that true success in leadership is not measured by position or titles, but by compassion in service and humility. He also reminded Officers that they should model Christ in their leadership and avoid being self-centered. In his concluding remarks, he used Paul as an example of steadfast servant leadership, noting how he exemplified leadership even in difficult times. Officers were encouraged not to grow weary in doing good, as proclaimed in Galatians 6:9.

The second day of the course focused on developmental reviews, including individual Officers’ leadership development plans, as well as the Traffic Light Development Exam and review.

On the third day, Territorial Commander Commissioner Torben Eliasen encouraged Officers using the story of Jethro advising Moses in Exodus 18:14-24. He highlighted how Jethro’s guidance—knowing the people, teaching individuals, selecting good leaders, and delegating responsibilities—remains relevant for today’s leadership challenges. In his closing remarks, Commissioner Eliasen emphasized good administration, vigilance, and the ability to shepherd effectively under varying circumstances. The Leader Development Secretary, Captain Owen Mutize, encouraged Officers to invest in personal development. Drawing from Matthew 5:16, he spoke about exemplifying leadership through actions that let one’s light shine before others so that God may be glorified.

On the final day, Commissioner Deise Eliasen began by encouraging Officers on themes of faithfulness in small things, maintaining a steadfast character as a leader, trusting that God’s promotion comes through faithfulness, and understanding the rewards of steadfast leadership. The Territorial Commander concluded the Refresher Course with a session on Rewriting the Future. He spoke about how the past is unchangeable yet redeemable and can serve as a catalyst for the future. He related this theme to the story of Ezra, who encouraged the remnant of Israel to return to God’s foundations, acknowledge past mistakes, and embrace a future filled with hope and grace.
