Leaders from across the Southern Africa Territory met in Eshowe (Eastern Kwa Zulu Natal Division) from 19 – 21 February 2026 for the Territorial Leaders Conference. The theme ‘Come to the Table, Side by Side’ shaped the time together. It encouraged leaders to engage prayerfully and thoughtfully with their responsibilities and the direction of the Territory.
Although the conference covered a wide range of leadership and administrative matters, there was a consistent call to remember the purpose behind the work. The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination, and the conversations reminded attendees that leadership decisions and processes must always serve that mission.
Strengthening Leadership for the Territory
Throughout the gathering, delegates received guidance on how to strengthen the ministry of their divisions. Leaders were encouraged to build healthy systems, improve communication and ensure that ministry activities support the wider Territorial Strategic Plan. The theme ‘Come to the Table’ invited leaders to approach their responsibilities with openness, honesty and a willingness to listen. This reflects our belief that Christian leadership is not only about administration but also about character, integrity and faithfulness.
While each division has its own context, blessings and challenges, there was a shared desire to see growth in discipleship, community outreach and spiritual health. The conversations reaffirmed that effective ministry requires both spiritual commitment and good stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.

A Call to Deeper Reflection
Moments of devotion reminded the delegates that God invites each of us to the table with grace and purpose. Scripture readings encouraged leaders to consider where God may be asking them to take the next step in faith or courage. These reflections pointed again to the heart of Salvation Army teaching which calls every believer to holiness, obedience to God and a life that reflects Christ in daily service. Private and group prayer offered space to consider personal spiritual health and the responsibility of caring for those we lead.
Looking Ahead Together
As the conference concluded, leaders were encouraged to carry forward what they had reflected on side by side. The final moments reflected a continued commitment to the Territory’s mission and a desire to follow God’s leading in the days ahead. The journey ahead will require courage, accountability and a renewed focus on mission. Yet the message was clear. We do not lead alone. We sit and serve together at God’s table, trusting him to guide and sustain every step.
