The last weekend in October, the Mid Kwa Zulu Natal Division celebrated their annual Women’s Ministries Rally, hosted by Mirriam Booth Corps in the Ixopo Section. Over five hundred women attended, representing both Home League and Young Women’s Fellowship. The hall was full, and some participants had to be seated outside, showing the excitement and anticipation for the gathering.
Our guest for the day was Major Constance Mbane. The theme, “Daughters of Zion”, served as a reminder of God’s faithfulness to His people. Even when His people have lived in sin or experienced captivity, they remain chosen. Even when identity is lost or hope seems distant, God can restore and make great. This theme called the women to rise above struggles, embrace freedom from the chains of the past, and experience the redeeming power of Christ as described in Isaiah 52:1-3.
October is also Breast Cancer and Mental Health Awareness Month in South Africa, and the gathering included a focus on these important issues. Mrs Sebenzile Khathi, CEO of GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh and a soldier at Mceleni Corps, spoke to the women about dementia. She explained how society often misunderstands or confuses the condition with witchcraft. Dementia is a mental health issue, with symptoms sometimes appearing as early as thirty years of age. Women are more at risk than men, and if communities are not aware, the condition can place the elderly in danger.
Mrs Khathi shared important guidance on recognizing early symptoms, seeking support when feeling stressed or depressed, and embracing a healthy lifestyle. She emphasized the importance of eating well and avoiding alcohol and smoking.
The Division also celebrated the enrollment of sixty-one new Women’s Ministries members. We are thankful to God for this blessing. Although 2025 has been a challenging year for many of our women, their strength, dedication, and passion made this event possible. Their commitment to the ministry is evident, and it is a joy to witness their service and care. All glory and honour go to God, the author and finisher of our faith. We say Ebenezer, for thus far, God has been with us and has been faithful.
