The Fellowship of The Silver Star, inaugurated in the USA in 1930 and later extended worldwide in 1936, is an expression of gratitude towards the parents, guardians or significant life mentors of Salvation Army Officers. Originally introduced by Commander Evangeline Booth in 1930 as the Order of the Silver Star to honour the mothers of Salvation Army Officers, it evolved into an international order in 1936. In 2001, its name was changed to the Fellowship of the Silver Star, emphasizing the vital role of family in shaping the lives of Officers. During the Silver Star function today, Commissioner Deise Eliason (TPWM) and Lieut-Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo (TSWM) acknowledged with thanksgiving the parents and/or significant life mentors of the Cadets, highlighting how these individuals have played a crucial role in shaping the Cadets and extended gratitude for the love and support displayed in releasing and supporting their children in their journey of fulfilling their calling from God within The Salvation Army.
