Seshego Corps actively participated in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The congregation was challenged to contribute to “helping the prayers” by taking concrete actions as Christians. Options were presented, including joining forces with activist organisations to raise continuous awareness, actively protecting our young people and using our voices to speak out against violence. Following the information shared, the congregation was encouraged to reflect on their commitment and choose one actionable step to play their part. Additionally, they symbolized their solidarity with the cause by wearing an orange ribbon pin, signifying the Corps’ collective stand against gender-based violence.

Captain Nomandla Fakudze imparted a lesson on “speaking out” to the Sunday school class of Gaba Corps as part of the 16 Days of Activism. Children were educated about their rights and responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of not being afraid to voice concerns in cases of abuse or when feeling uncomfortable. The teaching emphasized the need for children to feel empowered to speak out, whether the situation unfolds at home, school, church or within their communities. This valuable guidance encourages a sense of empowerment and awareness, fostering a safe environment for children to express themselves and seek help when needed.
