If the roof is leaking the solution is not to walk around the house with an umbrella. If you do that, you will be addressing the consequence and not the cause. The issue however, is that many times we just address the consequences and not the causes of problems, therefore instead of coming up with solutions we aggravate the situation.
One of the crucial issues of society which we don’t seem to be able to adequately address is the issue of abortion. Far be it from me to over simplify the matter or to downplay the struggle and pain of those women who unwantedly have to go through it. However when the abortion is for convenience purposes only, the consequence is being addressed but not the cause.
Surely women must have the right over their own body! But that must mean that all women must have that right! Including the unborn little baby girl who is being formed and is already alive! However we don’t seem to care that much for that little one’s right!
According to the Guttmacher Institute roughly 121 million unintended pregnancies occurred each year between 2015 and 2019. Of these unintended pregnancies, 61 % ended in abortion. This translates to 73 million abortions per year.
If the abortion for convenience is the consequence what then is its cause? Well, the cause is something that we try to avoid talking about or we turn a blind eye to it. The cause is the irresponsible behaviour of men and women! When intimacy is embraced disregarding its consequences anything can happen including a pregnancy. It is time for Christian men and women to own their actions and behave according to the Word of God, refraining from irresponsible actions and embracing the high Biblical standards.
Lets fix the roof!
- When is abortion acceptable and when is it unacceptable?
- What can be done to address the cause of abortions?
