Good Friday in the Western Cape Division commenced with a reflective and meaningful service centered around the Easter theme, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” Guests, Majors Brendan & Leanne Browski, were supported by the Divisional Leaders Major Rob & Captain Juanita Wright and the Officers, Local Officers and Soldiers of the Division. Bible Readings, prayers in various languages, vocal items and various speakers fostered a deep sense of reflection and worship among the congregation. In the afternoon, a service of African Praise encouraged the Division to engage with the seven sayings of Jesus on the Cross in a vibrant and meaningful manner. This day was indeed marked by God’s favour, evidenced by His presence among us.

The Division’s commitment to evangelism was showcased on Easter Saturday with significant outreach efforts in the Bonteheuwel and Goodwood communities. Activities included open-air services, targeted children’s outreach, community feeding programmes, and personal ministry through door-to-door visits. The day concluded with a United Youth Event at Claremont Corps, characterized by enthusiastic worship, interactive games and impactful prayer sessions.

The annual interdenominational Easter Sunrise Service was held at the Sarah Baartman steps at UCT, featuring the Salvation Army brass band and a time of heartfelt worship. The service was a beautiful reminder of the resurrection, affirming that “He is risen indeed, Jesus is alive!”

A special acknowledgement is made of Envoy Coral Yon and Captains Lynn & Edourd Zola for leading Easter ministry services on the Island of St. Helena and in Namibia, respectively. Their leadership and dedication extended the reach of the Divisional Easter celebrations, ensuring that the message of Christ’s death and resurrection was shared far and wide.

The Western Cape Division remains inspired by the words of Matthew 28:6, “He is not here; He has risen, just like He said,” and are grateful for everyone who contributed to making this Easter a meaningful and impactful celebration of our risen Lord.

What an absolutely Blessed weekend it was
