On May 10-12, 2024, more than 350 Junior Soldiers from the Northern Kwa Zulu Natal Division joyfully gathered at William Booth Corps for their annual Junior Soldiers rally. The highly anticipated weekend was filled with prayer, learning and activities, all aimed at nurturing their relationship with Jesus. We are grateful to God for using Lieutenant Nosipho Ntuli to minister throughout the weekend under the theme ‘Young and Prayerful,’ contextualizing the message in a relevant manner.

During the first session on Saturday, Lieutenant B. Nkambule addressed the issue of bullying, emphasizing its long-term effects and providing Junior Soldiers with tips on how to protect themselves. The second session comprised of breakaway groups for Junior Boys, Junior Miss and those under 7 years old. This time was much needed, as the Divisional Commander, Major Velani Buthelezi, ministered to the boys from Philippians 4:6-7, while the DDWM, Major Philile Buthelezi, spoke to the girls about anger management. This was followed by a craft activity where they made cards for their mothers in honour of Mother’s Day. The under 7’s were taught how to protect themselves from human trafficking using the SMART method.

In summary, the weekend was a splendid and joyous time for our Junior Soldiers. The games, “shayatafula,” and evening festival did not disappoint. Witnessing the enthusiasm of so many Junior Soldiers served as a powerful reminder of God’s love and His work within the Division. The future of The Salvation Army in the Division shines brightly.
