The Salvation Army launches Child Protection Week in the Territory, commencing on Sunday, 26 May, and running through Sunday, 2 June 2024. Throughout the Territory, dedicated teams will be active in their communities, visiting schools and shopping malls to emphasize the urgent need to protect children of all ages from abuse.

Activities will include distributing pamphlets and green ribbons, engaging the public in meaningful discussions, hosting informative talks, teaching children safety skills and presenting thought-provoking dramas. The Protective Behaviours programme will also be utilized during this time.

As The Salvation Army, we are committed to spreading our message, “protecting me, protecting you,” across the Territory. Today, THQ staff engaged in a special launch during prayers at Territorial Headquarters, with active participation from the Divisional Youth Officers (DYOs) and Divisional Children’s Ministries Officers (DCMOs) and support from the Mission Team. The Youth Department, DYO’s, DCMO’s and Mission Team members also took to the streets of Braamfontein to create awareness about keeping children safe from harm.

As we enter into Child Protection Week, let us commit to keeping children safe and take collective responsibility for their well-being. Together, we can create a world where every child is safe, protected, valued and free from harm.
