From June 21st to 22nd, 2024, our young people gathered at Seshego Corps for the annual Yconnexion. There was great excitement as the young people from various Corps arrived with their leaders to take part in the sessions prepared for them. The young people, too, were clearly prepared as they blessed us with ministry displays of drama, dance and poetry. Our guest, Lieutenant A. Ndou, truly connected with the young people as he unpacked the theme “Siyakhula” (“We are growing”). His focus was on encouraging the young people to grow in their relationship with God and to be intentional about it. We had many moments of fellowship as we stood around the fire as a group, enjoying popcorn and challenging each other on our knowledge of the Bible.

The attendees also learned from other sub-themes, such as “Siyakhula in Our Finances,” “Siyakhula in Mission,” “Siyakhula in Our Prayer Life,” and “Siyakhula in Business.” The speakers, who included young adults from our division, provided the youth with numerous tools to help them navigate the challenges and opportunities they may encounter. A unique event on the second day was the uniform parade, included to encourage young senior soldiers to wear their uniforms correctly and with pride as they witness to others about what they have seen in Jesus. All participants were presented with certificates, and the top three also received medals.

We are encouraged to be able minister to young people who still see God as important in their lives. The group that attended was supportive of one another, showing unity despite coming from various Corps. They participated with enthusiasm and interest. At the time of departure, we were all full—replenished in body, mind and spirit by all that we had learned. We thank God for journey mercies and the opportunity to meet again in this way.
