As part of the Divisional participation in the Social Week initiative, various Corps and Centres within the Division made a visible impact in their communities, offering support to those less fortunate. We thank God that through this initiative, many lives were touched. Here are some of the outreach activities that took place:

KwaMashu Corps
KwaMashu Corps ladies prepared a meal for the community, focusing on those living on the streets and others in need. Members of the Corps contributed financially to support this initiative.

Hammarsdale Corps
Focusing on the youth and children, Hammarsdale Corps helped clean a nearby school’s playground and surroundings. The following day, they hosted a school book club, assisting about 37 children with their schoolwork.

Imbali Corps
Imbali Corps received a food donation from Joseph Baynes Children’s Home, enabling them to feed about 230 individuals around Pietermaritzburg. Young people from the Corps participated in distributing clothes donated by Cascades Shopping Centre for winter relief.

Pietermaritzburg Corps
In partnership with Joseph Baynes Children’s Home, Pietermaritzburg Corps fed homeless people with the help of children from the Home. They provided food, tea and a packed gift to about 30 people.

Montpelier Corps and Thembela Home
Montpelier Corps and CCM volunteers distributed cooked meals, beanies, caps and toiletries to the homeless and less fortunate in the Durban area. They prayed with everyone and offered one-on-one counseling through the Corps Officers. This initiative further strengthened the connection between the Corps and the community.

Seeing those in need seek help from the Salvation Army Montpelier Corps was deeply rewarding. The focus was not merely on providing food but on glorifying Jesus through actions and interactions with the community. Corps team members prayed with visitors, invited them to Sunday Services and aimed to encourage people to foster personal relationships with Jesus Christ.

During the Social Week Sunday Service, the power of God was evident as many lives were touched. After the meeting, everyone received bread and hot soup to stay warm. On Mandela Day, more than 350 people were served with food, hats, clothes, snacks, toiletries and juice. Home League members demonstrated the four fold purpose of service, packing over 300 toiletry packs and other essentials for the homeless. They also decorated cupcakes, sharing the message, “This cupcake is made with love, but the love of Jesus for you is sweeter,” which blessed many in the community.

We thank God for His provision during this time which has enabled Corps and Centres to reach out with the love of Jesus to their communities.
