On 7 June 2025, Imbali Corps in the Mid-KwaZulu-Natal Division heeded the call of the Salvation Army Southern Territory’s Winter Blanket Campaign, taking to the streets to serve suffering humanity out of their deep love for God and His people.

As proud Salvationists, the Imbali soldiers—including the Corps band, led by Corps Officers Lieutenants Gcobani and Siphokazi Makebesana, along with the Corps Council members—conducted the following activities, compelled by Christ’s love to serve their community:

  1. Feeding the Hungry

Imbali Corps visited Siyaphilisa Community-Based Care Centre in Imbali Unit 1 to provide a warm meal and refreshments to 51 residents as part of the Community Care Ministry. Siyaphilisa is a home for the destitute, frail, and disabled.

  1. Warm Clothing Drive

Imbali Corps distributed 51 pairs of morning slippers, 51 pairs of long warm socks, and a hand towel to each resident, demonstrating God’s practical love through these gifts.

Before the activities, Lieutenant G. Makebesana addressed the residents, explaining that the Winter Blanket Drive flowed from their love for God, who first loved us. While food was provided that day, he emphasized the greater importance of believing in Jesus Christ as the ultimate healer and led a prayer.

Mrs. N.E. Majola, Home League Secretary and Speaker of uMsunduzi Municipality, highlighted the importance of caring for the needy, stating that as much as their physical needs were being met, their spiritual well-being was equally important because of God’s love for them. Mr. Sihle Majola, representing the local councillor, thanked Imbali Corps for their initiative and for supporting the vulnerable and needy residents of Siyaphilisa centre, noting how their caring actions reflected God’s love.

After all 51 residents had received their “goodies” and had their food, the Corps Sergeant Major, L. Langa, closed in prayer.

Imbali Corps remains committed to making a positive impact and showing the community of Imbali that they care, motivated by their love for God and His great love that compels them to go out and care for others. Through both word and deed, they continue to share the hope and practical help that comes from Christ’s love.
